Reflection Note Hello everyone! The ending of the semester is coming, and I'd like to share with you some points about our course of Academic Writing. First of all, I'd like to say that this semester in addition to writing different types of texts, we watched very interesting and useful video sessions about different topics connected with English. Also we read a lot of articles, created our own stories with such program as the Plot Generator. All of these tasks were very useful ,because we were practising our writing skils and developing ourselves. Moreover we paid a lot of attention to the thesis statement and how we should formulate it. All of this things are very important, because we should know how to express our thoughts and opinion in writing correctly. One more thing that we were doing this semester, we discussed a lot of  important topics in class, and our teacher always gave us the right to choose the themes, and it was very good. I think it will ...

FOR AND AGAINST ESSAY Eating Meat is Good and Necessary for People Eating is the big part of our life. Meat is a product that plays an important role for human organism.Nowdays there are a lot of people who don't eat meat, and it is their choice. Moreover, there are a lot of arguments about eating meat is good or not.  First of all, meat contains a huge amount of protein, which is actively involved in the strengthening and development of our body. For example, it is involved in the creation of hemoglobin which supplies our blood with oxygen. Moreover protein is one of the basic nutrients necessary for human. The second point is that meat gives us strength, and especially for men it is very important to be strong. If we don't eat meat we become weak and lethargic. Another reason is that meat contains a lot of elements that are responsible for the quality of our skin, hair, nails, and without it, for example, our hair will fall out and nails will deterioate. How...
Dear all! Today I'd like to tell you about an article which I've read recently. I've chosen this article because it tells us  everything about the hurricane, and I'd like to learn more about it. Nowadays our climate is changing very quickly, it is a big problem,  and there are a lot of cataclysms, so we should be ready for anything. As we all know  hurricane is a large rotating storm that forms over tropical or subtropical waters in the Atlantic. It is one of the most terrifying natural phenomenon, which brings a lot of destructions and sometimes death. From this article I'd like to learn more about hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons, and what will be with our climate in the future. This article is very useful, and I've learned a lot of things from it. Now I know that storms are given names once they have sustained winds of more than 39mph. Hurricanes are gauged by something called the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale, which runs from one to five and...
Dear all! Today I'd like to tell you about the session which I've watched recently. There were various speakers such as: Analia Duarte, Enrique Barba and Josefina Santana, Kerstin Okubo. The session  was called "Forum on Autonomous Listening" I've chosen this session because I have some problems with listening tasks, and not always can understand some details,so I thought that this video could help me. It did. From this session i've learned some techniques of how to do listening tasks sucessfully and how to understand what a speaker is talking about. The first technique was introduced by Kertsin Okubo,it was called Academic Listening Circles . She divided students in groups of four and each of them had their own role. Discourser focused on systemic and referntial discourse markers, analyser negotiated unknown vocabulary and background or cultural knowledge, exemplifier identified examples and connect them to main ideas, leader summurized main id...

Here is some useful phrases from the article which i've read: 1) bring to mind. "The sight of beautiful, able-bodied actors wearing breathing tubes and living for the moment might bring to mind the 2014 hit The Fault in Our Stars..." Example: I have a great idea! It's just brought to my mind 2) commonplace. "As well as becoming more commonplace, terminal-teen romances are becoming more medical, which is a double-edged sword." Example: We all do commonplace things every day. 3)  draw some critisism. "Five Feet Apart has already drawn some critisism for glamourising CF, and promoting dangerous practice (the “six feet” rule is there for a good reason)". Example:Many writers  had drawn some critisism in the 20th century. 4) to shy away. " The story, set entirely within a hospital, does not shy away from the oppressive treatment regime." Example: Many criminals try to shy away from the punishment. 5) cliches.  "It ...
Hello everyone! Today i'd like to tell you about one article from The Guardian newspaper. This article was about films which tell us about terminally ill teens, and as example there was new movie called Five Feet Apart. This is the latest film about doomed young heartthrobs – a trope rife in popular culture since Romeo and Juliet. This article criticizes the films about two teenagers who are fall in love with each other and both have the same or different diseases. Such films have become very ordinary and cliched, and each of them has almost the same plot and scenes. Five Feet Apart is no exception. It tells us about two teenagers who  both have cystic fibrosis – a genetic condition that leads to buildup of fluid in the lungs. More than half of sufferers die before they reach 28 years old. To prevent cross-infection, people with CF must not come within six feet of each other, hence the title: when these two fall in love, they decide to steal back a foot’s worth of intima...
